Customs and import regulations when moving to Ireland (as of 2025)

Which customs steps are necessary depends on how the transport is carried out:

1. removal by lorry (overland via EU countries)

There is no customs treatment for lorry transports within the EU, as Austria and Ireland are part of the single market.

Nevertheless, we prepare all accompanying documents (e.g. packing lists, declarations of ownership) in order to organise the logistics smoothly.

2. removal by container (sea freight)

In the case of sea transport via third countries (e.g. via Rotterdam), customs export and import clearance is mandatory.
